Carrying the items associated with a fun time at the beach was always the grunt task for which, there was never a happy volunteer. The Sand Crawler concept evolved during those many family excursions to the beach. The troublesome portion was always the trip from the vehicle to the desired spot on the beach.  Loose sandy terrain could make the task tiresome and more so after a long day at the beach. The Sand Crawler finally arrived a short time ago and went though a few development stages. Initially it worked well in hard packed sand but not so well in loose sandy terrain. It was well constructed but heavier than a practical solution required. It was modified and worked a little better in loose sand but the weight was still a serious concern. As a proof of principal exercise these two versions were very helpful and led to the current production version, which embodies the fundamental attributes needed. These are a robust construction, reasonable weight and acceptable mobility over loose sandy terrain. The current Sand Crawler is a reasonably neat solution. It is dual directional, can be pulled in both directions. It is stable, not requiring any balancing by the user. It is lighter, at 25 pounds, than many a year old infant. At some distant time in the future perhaps it will evolve into a much lighter weight plastic version. Acceptability by the public of the current version may influence that future outcome. The Sand Crawler is hand crafted in the United States of America. It incorporates "Ode to Sand Crawler ©" written to be it's traveling companion.
